The American company Eon Reality is the global market leader in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), and develops systems for industrial and educational purposes.
EON Reality Norway is now being established with its headquarters and production centre in Hamar. A showroom where organisations and individuals can demonstrate and sell their VR and AR equipment and systems is being set up in Elverum. Moreover, a one-year further education programme in AR and VR is being launched at Hedmark University of Applied Sciences.
The company Crisis Training has now become EON Reality Norway. Crisis Training had its origins in a project carried out at Høgskolen i Hedmark in 2007. The project obtained funding from the Research Council of Norway’s FORNY programme, and the company was established by the private-public business development agency Elverum Regionens Næringsutviking AS and Kjeller Innovasjon (Campus Kjeller) in 2009. Talks with Eon Reality were initiated and the process towards creating a Norwegian VR and AR centre was launched. Seven years later, the expertise centre has become a reality. A broad-based and effective collaboration with local businesses, Hedmark County Council, Hamar and Elverum municipalities and Hedmark University of Applied Sciences has made the project possible.
Widespread media coverage confirms how significant the centre is to the region:
